I gotta speak on the Kanye/50 situation... I gotta admit it's been consuming my mind, so as passionate as I am about it, I'm not gonna lie, I was ready for it to be over...
But I did get my second wind today after reading this...
"50 Cent may be getting hip-hop's equivalent of a gold watch next week. Early reports have Kanye West beating 50 in their much-hyped battle of album sales: West's "Graduation" is on pace to sell about 575,000 to 700,000 its first week out, while 50 Cent's "Curtis" is on track to do 550,000, according to Billboard magazine.
As of day one, Kanye had sold 437,000 copies to 50's 310,000, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
Both albums came out Tuesday, and a confident 50 Cent famously announced that he would retire if West outsold him in first-week sales.
"I just don't view him as competition based on our previous sales histories," 50 Cent told The Associated Press last month.
But it looks as if 50 underestimated the power of West, and perhaps, overestimated his own appeal."
So now I'm back in!
Lyrically Kanye is on point with all three albums. They stay in heavy rotation on my IPOD, and Graduation is no different. I bought 2 CD’s just to support my boy! Such tracks as “Everything I am” and “Big Brother” touch my soul… and at the same time when I wanna hit the club “The Good Life” and “Stronger” are ridiculous!
Now I wouldn’t care as much as I do, except I used to LOVE 50…. His first CD changed my life, but it’s just been down hill from there… He had me at “Many Men” but he lost me at “Magic Stick.” AND don’t even get me started on “Get Money”… anyone who has the words “THIS IS HIPHOP” flash on his video isn’t hip hop… ya feel me?

What we need right now is the kind of music that could makes us “Stronger”, and that we could live a “Good Life” from being so. But bad days will come, and we have to be able to say “Good Night” to those days so we can overcome negativity and stay on top of positivity. The next thing you know you’re living your dream and if somebody comes up to you and say “Man, you ain’t hot …”
You have a reply to such phrase. You can simply say “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”
Prepare your cap and gown attire for “Graduation” And salute your principal, Mr.West.
… so do something good for HIP HOP and go get Graduation… and don’t burn a copy for your friends. The type of shit you can burn is MIMS, not ‘YE!
